Ministry of Energy Announces Renaming of Department of Explosives to National Explosives and Petroleum Safety Agency (NEPSA)

Summary: Pursuant to amendments made to the Explosives Rules, 2010 and approval of the Federal Government, the former "Department of Explosives" has been renamed the "National Explosives and Petroleum Safety Agency (NEPSA)".

Action Required: With immediate effect, all official correspondence, applications, licences, permits, No Objection Certificates (NOCs), approvals, notifications, agreements, reports, records, invoices, legal instruments and other official documents should be addressed to and issued in the name of the "National Explosives and Petroleum Safety Agency (NEPSA)" instead of the "Department of Explosives."

Validity of Existing Instruments: All licences, permits, approvals, NOCs, certificates, permissions, registrations and other legal instruments issued by the former Department of Explosives will continue to remain valid and effective until their respective dates of expiry or until otherwise amended, suspended, cancelled or renewed in accordance with applicable laws and rules.

Intended Recipients: This notice is issued for the information and compliance of the general public, all Federal Ministries/Divisions, Provincial Governments, Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Organisations, Law Enforcement Agencies, Regulatory Authorities, private organizations, licence holders, importers, manufacturers, dealers, contractors, consultants, transporters and other stakeholders.
