Allama Iqbal Open University — PhD Admissions Autumn 2026 (Merit Scholarships)

Issuer: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU). Open call for PhD admissions for Autumn 2026 with fully funded, merit-based scholarships available for selected PhD programmes.

Available PhD programmes include (select list): Islamic Studies (General), Islamic Studies (Hadith & Hadith Sciences), Islamic Studies (Seerat Studies), Distance & Non-formal Education, Science Education, Mass Communication, Pakistani Languages & Literature, Agrilultural Extension, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Sciences, Food & Nutrition, Mathematics, Physics, and others as listed in the university prospectus.

Eligibility (Scholarship):

Candidates must have a minimum CGPA of 3.5/4.0 or equivalent grades in their MS/MPhil degree. Applicants should submit a well-written research proposal aligned with the research areas required by the relevant department/faculty. While prior research experience or a publication record is preferred, it is not mandatory. Fresh candidates who demonstrate exceptional potential and passion for teaching, learning and development may be considered. Maximum age for scholarship applicants is 35 years on the closing date of admission.

Scholarship Terms & Conditions:

The scholarship will cover the full cost of tuition fees for the PhD program. Scholars will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 80,000/- (excluding fee) to support living expenses. Scholars will have access to university research facilities, libraries, laboratories and online databases. The scholarship duration will be up to four years, subject to satisfactory progress and annual review. Scholars must remain physically present at the AIOU Main Campus during the stipulated study period if required by the scholarship terms.
