Chief Internal Auditor – Independent System & Market Operator (ISMO) Pakistan (Contract)

Independent System & Market Operator (ISMO) of Pakistan invites applications for the position of Chief Internal Auditor on a contract basis. ISMO seeks a dynamic, qualified and experienced professional to lead internal audit activities, ensure effective internal controls, and support governance and risk management across the organization.

Key responsibilities include evaluating accounting, financial, credit and other operational activities as an independent appraisal function; reviewing and appraising adequacy and application of accounting, financial and operational controls; formulating internal audit programs for all aspects of financial transactions; developing and maintaining a team of competent subordinates; maintaining liaison with external and commercial auditors; coordinating with the Audit Committee and Board and undertaking special audits and investigations as directed; and evaluating the design and effectiveness of compliance functions.

Eligibility & experience: Candidates must be members of a recognized body of professional accountants and hold qualifications such as CA/CPA/ACMA/ACCA or MBA (Finance) from a recognized local or international university/institute. A minimum of 12 years of post-qualification relevant experience is required, including at least 5 years in senior management or executive-level roles with demonstrated expertise in auditing, risk management, internal control, and public/private sector financial reliability. Experience with governance, risks and controls—particularly in SOEs or public-sector projects—is preferred. Candidates must meet fit & proper criteria as defined under Schedule-IV of the State-Owned Enterprises (Governance and Operations) Act, 2023.
