The Higher Education Commission (HEC) invites Pakistani researchers and scholars to apply for the HEC Research Awards 2026-27 to recognize excellence in research, contributions to intellectual development and high-impact publications. Awards will be given in three categories: Best Researcher, Best Young Researcher and Best Publication.

Award Category	Key Eligibility & Requirements
Best Researcher	Applicant must not be blacklisted by HEC. Applicant/publication must not have received the same award previously. None of the publications credited to the applicant must be plagiarized per HEC policy. Applicant must have been a resident of Pakistan for at least three years as of 2026-01-01.
Best Young Researcher	Applicant must be under 40 years of age on 2026-01-01. Applicant must be a resident of Pakistan as of 2026-01-01 (residency requirement as specified by HEC). All general eligibility conditions above apply (no blacklist, no prior award for same publication, no plagiarism).
Best Publication	Publication must be a scholarly book or journal article; books must be published by a recognized academic press. Publication must not be more than three years old before 2026-01-01. Publication must be authored by no more than three authors. All authors must meet HEC residency requirements (residents of Pakistan as specified by HEC) as of 2026-01-01. Research articles must be published in HEC-recognized W-category journals and meet any citation or impact thresholds required by HEC. Extended versions of previously submitted papers, or works previously submitted for the same category, are not eligible for re-submission.

How to apply: Applications must be submitted online via the HEC Research portal: https://research.hec.gov.pk. Incomplete or late applications will not be entertained.
