The University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, has issued a show-cause notice under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act, 2006, to the following university teachers regarding alleged misconduct involving wilful absence from duty.
| Name | Designation | Department and Campus |
|---|---|---|
| Ms. Sadaf Saeed | Assistant Professor | City and Regional Planning Department, UET Main Campus |
| Ms. Samreen Malik | Lecturer | Institute of Business and Management (IB&M), Main Campus |
The University Syndicate, acting as the competent authority under the PEEDA Act, 2006, initiated disciplinary proceedings against these teachers for wilful absence from duty. Following its decision to dispense with inquiry proceedings under Section 5(1)(b) of the Act, the Syndicate served show-cause notices on them. Neither teacher submitted a written defence or response, nor appeared before the Syndicate for a personal hearing on 25 July 2026.
At its meeting numbered 3/2026, held on 25 July 2026, the Syndicate considered the history and facts of the cases, noted the teachers' failure to respond or attend the personal hearing, and decided to afford them a final opportunity for a personal hearing.
The named teachers are required to show cause in writing within 15 days of publication of this notice as to why the major penalty of removal from service under Section 4 of the PEEDA Act, 2006, should not be imposed, together with the respective financial recoveries and liquidated damages, if any.
Replies must reach the Registrar/Secretary to Syndicate, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, within the stipulated 15-day period. Failure to reply will be treated as having no defence to offer, and the Syndicate will proceed to make a final decision in their absence in accordance with the PEEDA Act, 2006.
The teachers will be afforded a final opportunity for a personal hearing before the Syndicate at its upcoming meeting. The hearing schedule will be communicated to the addresses held in the University record or supplied in their replies to the show-cause notice.
Any teacher wishing to consult the official records on which the charges are based may do so by prior arrangement with the Registrar/Secretary to Syndicate within seven days of publication of this notice.
