SMBBMU Larkana Postgraduate Admissions for January 2027 Session

Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), Larkana, invites applications on prescribed forms from candidates domiciled in Sindh for postgraduate training and residency programmes commencing in January 2027. The application deadline is 23 November 2026.

University Degree and Diploma Training Courses

The Ophthalmology (DO), Anaesthesia (DA), and all three one-year Community Medicine diploma courses are under the process of recognition. Diploma in Cardiology training will be conducted at SICVD Larkana/Sukkur.

Eligibility Criteria

For MD, MS and diploma programmes, applicants must hold an MBBS from a university recognised by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC). FCPS-II applicants must hold an MBBS from a PM&DC-recognised university and have qualified FCPS-I. Applicants for the FCPS-II second fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology must have passed FCPS-II in Ophthalmology.

A valid PM&DC registration certificate and a one-year house job in a recognised teaching institute are required. Preference will be given to candidates with six months of house-job training in the relevant specialty.

For MPhil programmes, applicants must hold an MBBS, BDS, BS or MSc in the relevant subject from a university recognised by PM&DC. PhD applicants require a grade-point average above 3.0 and should consult the university's PhD policy for further eligibility details.

Eligibility criteria for MSPH and one-year Community Medicine diplomas are available at www.smbbmu.edu.pk/admissions. MSN eligibility criteria are available on the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council website at https://pnmc.gov.pk/degree-programs/.

Application Procedure

Download the application form from www.smbbmu.edu.pk. Deposit the applicable fees into Bank Alfalah account IBAN PK84ALFH0723001010579758, account title “The Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana-VC”. Submit the payment receipt, completed application form and two attested photocopy sets of all documents, together with a photocopy of the completed form, according to the checklist, to the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies, SMBBMU, at CMC Larkana.

Candidates must confirm their admit card, examination time and venue with the Postgraduate Directorate, SMBBMU Larkana, two days before the entry test. Separate call letters will not be issued for entry tests, interviews or selection; candidates must follow the admission schedule.

Selection and General Conditions

Only candidates who qualify the written entry test will be called for interview. Selection will be based on merit against the available seats. The Postgraduate Committee's interview decision will be final. Travel and daily allowances will not be paid for attending the entry test or interview.

The Postgraduate Directorate reserves the right to modify the schedule or courses, cancel courses, or reconduct activities because of unavoidable circumstances. Candidates employed by government, semi-government or autonomous bodies, or other universities, must apply through the proper channel. Applications submitted otherwise will not be entertained, although an advance copy may be sent with the relevant documents.

The Postgraduate Selection Committee reserves the right to cancel any admission. Candidates may appeal to the competent authority within two weeks. Entry test and all other fees are non-refundable. Incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline will not be entertained.

Hostel accommodation will not be provided. Legal action will be taken for forgery in documents. The quota for in-service candidates will be observed.
