Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) – Resident Shariah Board Member (RSBM) – 1 Vacancy

Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) invites applications for the contractual engagement of one Resident Shariah Board Member (RSBM) at its Head Office, Islamabad.

Required Experience

- At least 4 years' experience issuing Shariah rulings (including period of Takhasus fil Ifta) OR at least 5 years' post-qualification experience in teaching, research or development in Islamic Banking & Finance. Preference to scholars with at least 3 years' experience as a Shariah Advisor or member of a Shariah Board of an Islamic Financial Institution or deputed as Shariah Advisor/member of a Shariah team.

Essential Qualifications

One of the following (from a recognized institution):

• Shahadat ul Alamiya (Dars-e-Nizami) or similar degree (other than Madaris degree) and Bachelor's degree; OR
• Postgraduate degree in Kulliyatush Shariah or Kulliyyah Usuluddin, LL.M. (Shariah) or equivalent; OR
• Shariah scholar who is member of Shariah Boards/Committees of internationally reputed organizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Shariah rulings, explanations and clarifications to bank management, staff and the Islamic banking operations division on products, documents, processes, decisions and fatwas.
• Ensure provision of necessary information and documents so management understands product structure, process flows, business/economic outcomes and Shariah permissibility.
• Guide the Shariah Compliance Department (SCD) in compliance reviews and responses to client queries regarding products and services.
• Facilitate SCD and Training Department in training activities; submit at least quarterly reports to the Shariah Board for ratification of material explanations/clarifications.

Eligibility / Other Conditions

• Maximum age limit: 61 years as on closing date.
• Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview; no TA/DA will be admissible.
