Issuer: Government of Sindh, Universities & Boards Department. Purpose: Invite applications from accomplished academicians and leaders for the position of Vice Chancellor, Karachi Metropolitan University.
The appointment will be made by the Chief Minister on the recommendations of the Search Committee under relevant provisions. Candidates must meet the eligibility categories below and be not more than 62 years of age on the last date of applying. Selected candidates will serve the term as per the Constitution of the Search Committee Act, 2022.

| Category-1 | An eminent academician and distinguished medical professional qualified to be a full Professor as per HEC criteria (Medical Sciences). Must hold a postgraduate fellowship or Ph.D. in the medical field or equivalent from an HEC/PMDC-recognized university/institute. Minimum 20 years’ experience including 10 years of administrative, financial and academic experience in leadership positions such as Vice Chancellor, Rector, President, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dean, Chairman, Registrar, Principal in any university/degree-awarding institute/college, or BPS-17 & above or equivalent in public sector or reputable national/international private organization. |
| Category-2 | Cadre officer of BPS-21 or above (PAS/Ex-PCs/PSM) with a Master’s degree from an HEC-recognized university/institute. The cadre officer applying on the basis of civil-service experience upon selection as Vice Chancellor will have to resign or seek retirement from his respective cadre/service. |
| Category-3 | Candidate with a Master’s degree, preferably Ph.D., in the relevant field and at least 15 years’ experience in academia/intelligentsia or civil society, research or management leadership positions, with a distinguished research and publication record (at least 10 publications in HEC-recognized journals). |
Key responsibilities: promote quality education; promote research and development projects; establish national and international linkages with industrial and renowned institutions; plan a sustainable business model; gather and analyse data across industrial sectors for policy-making.
Required skills and conditions: strong analytical and critical-thinking skills; excellent written, spoken and presentation abilities; ability to collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative data; understanding of financial matters and budget mechanisms. Candidates must indicate the relevant eligibility category on their application. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews. No TA/DA will be provided. The Government reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process at any stage.
